Tulsi Gabbard’s DNI Update on MLK Assassination Files

Tulsi Gabbard’s Director of National Intelligence has disclosed that the Trump administration made over 200,000 files public regarding the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In a post on X, Gabbard detailed that the 230,000 files on the MLK assassination include a document outlining the FBI’s investigation into the case, as well as an internal memo that tracks the case’s progress, among other materials.

“Today marks the release of 230,000 files on the MLK assassination after nearly 60 years of unanswered questions about the event,” she stated. “The archives include information on the FBI’s investigation, potential leads, an internal memo detailing the case’s progression, and insights from James Earl Ray’s former cellmate discussing the assassination plot.”

Gabbard also commended President Trump for Executive Order 14,176, which declassified records related to the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy, and Robert F. Kennedy.

In her post, she expressed gratitude for Trump’s initiative, stating that “Executive Order 14176 facilitated three significant interagency efforts to identify, digitize, and release files concerning the federal investigations into the assassinations of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Dr. King’s President John F. Kennedy.”

Dr. Alveda King commented, thanking President Trump and DNI Gabbard for their commitment to transparency in releasing documents tied to her uncle’s assassination. “My uncle dedicated his life to seeking truth and justice,” she said. “His enduring legacy of faith continues to inspire Americans today.”

Previous reports indicated that Dr. King’s family requested an opportunity to review the files before they were public, following Trump’s executive order to release records related to his assassination.
