Alabama Teacher Arrested for Alleged Sexual Relations with Student
A teacher at a Christian school in Alabama was taken into custody on Friday following allegations of engaging in sexual relations with a student. The incident has left many in the community shaken.
North River Christian Academy, located in Tuscaloosa, issued a statement online regarding the arrest of a “former employee.” The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that they arrested Sarah Huggins Logan, 35, and charged her with one count of a school employee engaging in sexual activity.
Authorities were alerted when the parents of the student informed them that their daughter was reportedly involved with the teacher, as stated by Tuscaloosa Violent Crime Unit (VCU) captain Jack Kennedy. The investigation is ongoing.
The VCU has begun probing the situation, gathering evidence and interviewing relevant individuals, which led to obtaining a warrant for Logan. Details surrounding the victim and other specifics were not disclosed right away. It has been confirmed that Logan is no longer affiliated with the school.
The school stated that it had been aware of the allegations earlier in the week and promptly notified local and state authorities. They expressed their commitment to assisting in the investigation.
“Our primary concern is the well-being of our students, staff, and families,” the academy mentioned. “We ask everyone to respect the privacy of those involved. Spreading rumors only exacerbates the situation.” They also emphasized the emotional toll this incident has had on the families directly affected, encouraging the school community to offer prayers and support.
Kennedy noted that there could be additional casualties and urged anyone with information to come forward.
The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation, and further charges may follow.
