Macron Takes Legal Action Against Candice Owens
French President Emmanuel Macron has initiated a lawsuit against Candice Owens, a prominent right-wing media figure, based on statements she made about his wife. The lawsuit was filed in Delaware Superior Court and outlines claims that Owens has caused distress to both him and Bridget Macron.
Owens had previously asserted, somewhat provocatively, that she would “bet” on Bridget Macron’s true gender in 2024. Earlier this year, Owens launched an eight-part series titled “Become Bridget,” which focused on her allegations regarding Mrs. Macron.
The lawsuit alleges, among other things, that Owens has made outrageous claims—that Mrs. Macron is a fraud and has been living under a false identity. This was described in the legal document as an effort to expose “overstated fiction” designed to manipulate the public perception.
In an attempt to clarify the situation, Macron reportedly reached out to Owens and provided her with evidence countering her assertions. Court filings suggest that she disregarded this information. Macron asserted that Owens’ statements have led to significant harm to their reputation, framing her actions as part of a “global campaign of humiliation” aimed at profiting from their misrepresentation.
Notably, Owens was previously the host of a show at the Daily Wire but parted ways with the organization in 2024 after disagreements with a colleague regarding comments made during the Israel-Hamas conflict. Since then, she has operated independently and continues to attract a broad audience on platforms like X and YouTube.
As for Owens’ legal team, they have not yet provided a response regarding the ongoing lawsuit.
