Florida judge prevents the release of Jeffrey Epstein grand jury records

Federal Judge Denies Request for Epstein Transcript Release

A federal judge decided on Wednesday not to release a significant transcript from a case involving the Trump administration. U.S. District Judge Robin Rosenberg remarked that “her hands are tied,” indicating legal constraints that prevent her from disclosing materials from the grand jury proceedings.

Judge Rosenberg noted in her 12-page ruling that, according to the 11th Circuit federal appeals court, the law restricts this court from granting the government’s requests without prior approval from the government itself.

Amidst ongoing discussions about transparency in sex trafficking investigations, the Trump administration has pushed for the release of materials related to the Epstein case, particularly a transcript tied to a lawsuit originating from a Florida grand jury trial. This grand jury was active in the mid-2000s, and this ruling marks just one of many attempts by former President Donald Trump to unveil more details surrounding the matter.

Last week, Trump criticized Attorney General Pam Bondy for not releasing the transcript sooner, referring to the “outrageous amount of publicity” surrounding Jeffrey Epstein.

The government has also made requests similar to this one regarding transcripts from its investigations into Epstein in both 2019 and 2020. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche recently filed a motion in Manhattan Federal Court, asking for the release of the grand jury evidence related to Epstein’s case and his convicted associates, including Ghislaine Maxwell.

This month, the Department of Justice, alongside the FBI, delivered a memorandum that provided a “complete review” of Epstein’s investigative file. The review aimed to assess the viability of additional charges against other parties but ultimately found no sufficient evidence exists to pursue any uncharged individuals.

Epstein, who was 66 at the time of his arrest in 2019, faced serious sex trafficking charges. Sadly, he died by suicide in his prison cell the following month while awaiting trial, leading to the dismissal of the case.
