County Democratic Staff Member Threatened Rep. Tony Wied's Life

Threats Made Against Rep. Tony Wide in Wisconsin

A Democratic official in Brown County, Wisconsin, has allegedly issued death threats against Rep. Tony Wide (R-WI) and his office, according to reports obtained by Breitbart News.

On April 9, a staff member from Wide’s office alerted Capitol Police about serious threats against lawmakers, including one involving a legislative correspondent.

The threatening individual reportedly stated that the “congressman should be sentenced to death” and that “members deserve death, as well as anyone involved in his office.” This was reiterated multiple times during the call.

On May 1, the same person sent a disturbing email to Wide’s office, expressing accusations against the House of Representatives. The email included language that was quite alarming:

Dear Wide,
You must be taking some serious medications because you are hallucinating about everything. You aren’t serving your members at all. You’ve tried to harm our children repeatedly. You’re just looking to fill your pockets along with your billionaire friends. Since January 20th, you’ve committed treason daily. You’ve engaged in mass murder by sending weapons to Israel and have been complicit in war crimes against Americans. (Yes, I’ve let President Biden know about this.)

This individual has been identified as Carl J. Huggett, a regional representative from West Green Bay, and he has been a known donor to the Democratic Party, contributing to Christine Riary, Wide’s opponent for the upcoming 2024 Congressional election.

Wide stated, “The threats made against my team and myself are unacceptable. We need to be able to debate policies without personal attacks or threats.” He expressed hope that local Democrats will denounce this behavior and emphasize that such intimidation should not be tolerated.

This incident occurs in a political climate where threats against public officials, including former President Donald Trump, have been increasingly common.

Last July, a man from Rhode Island was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill Attorney General Pam Bondy and Stephen Miller, Deputy Chief of Staff at the White House. In the same month, a man in Texas faced charges for expressing intentions to shoot Trump, stating on social media he “can’t miss it.”

Additionally, a butler in Pennsylvania has been charged for making threats against Trump, Elon Musk, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

Even Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) has faced threats for advocating for laws that protect women’s rights in public restrooms.

While there are varied opinions on threats made against civil servants, there seems to be a growing concern over the safety of politicians.
