Travis Hunter's father taken into custody in Florida for breaching probation

Travis Hunter’s father was taken into custody in Florida recently for allegedly breaching his probation, as online records indicate. He reportedly wandered out of reach of a surveillance device for about 11 minutes on the evening of June 28. During that time, he claimed to be in the bedroom while the monitor was left in the living room. On July 1, he mentioned he had temporarily left the device behind. A warrant for his arrest was issued on July 10, according to reports.

Previously, Hunter Senior was imprisoned last September due to drug and gun-related charges stemming from an incident in 2023. He received a sentence of 90 days while on three years of probation, which included a year of home confinement. Just a week before his son’s Heisman win, he was released from jail, and a Florida court allowed him to attend the NFL Draft in Green Bay in April.

His travel was strictly monitored; he could only make a round trip between the hotel and the draft and had to return home the day after the first round. Additionally, he was required to submit his travel plans to his Community Control Officer.

When Travis Hunter won the Heisman, he expressed deep emotion while addressing his father. He said, “I want to say something to my dad. He was here and couldn’t make it, but I know you’re watching on TV. Dad, I love you.” He reflected on how, at times, he couldn’t see his dad during games, contrasting that with how present he had been for him more recently.

Hunter was selected as the second pick in the NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, his hometown team.
