Presidential Memoir by Joe Biden Sells for $10 Million

News on Biden’s Memoir Deal

Former President Joe Biden has reportedly secured a $10 million advance for his memoir detailing his four years in office. He sold the book rights to Hachette Book Group, but the publisher, Little, Brown, & Company, has yet to announce a publication date. Biden mentioned, “I’m leaving my tail off” while working on the manuscript.

It’s noted that former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, made significant earnings from their book deals. In fact, Penguin Random House purchased Obama’s book rights in 2017 for around $60 million. In contrast, President Trump opted not to publish a memoir after his first term. Meanwhile, former President Bill Clinton received $15 million for his memoir, My Life, published in 2004.

Additionally, reports suggest that Biden and Jill Biden considered a $30 million deal with Tel Book back in May. This decision seems to have been influenced by the financial troubles of their son, Hunter, who faced legal issues and struggled with declining art sales.

Hunter Biden’s 2021 memoir, Beautiful Things, initially saw a surge in sales, but it quickly plummeted thereafter. Interestingly, if one were to apply the saying “Any Press Is Good Press” to Hunter, the memoir’s visibility through interviews might suggest a different outcome than its sales reflected.

Concerns have been raised regarding President Biden’s mental acuity, with some noting he might have used an autopen for his signatures while in office. Recently, Donald Trump remarked that Biden seemed unaware of this during his time in the White House.

Hunter Biden has taken a firm stance against those questioning his father’s mental fitness, using colorful language in a recent interview on YouTube. Meanwhile, a report from the WSJ indicates that Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, hinting that his health could impact the timeline for finishing the memoir and any related promotional efforts.
