Changes Ahead for The View
Donald Trump Jr. expressed his thoughts this week, calling it a “big victory for humanity and common sense.” His comments came as The View prepares for some shifts.
During a Thursday announcement, co-host Joy Behar revealed there will be one more show before a break. “I can say that, right?” she asked, acknowledging the upcoming changes.
Co-hosts reacted, with Alyssa Farrar Griffin chiming in, “Before I went, I wanted to tell people that the tide was turning.” It seems there’s a sense of anticipation in the air.
Later on, Whoopi Goldberg reassured viewers, saying, “OK…this is what’s going on. I’ll see you guys for another new show and I’ll be back for the new season in September.”
A White House spokesperson responded, criticizing Behar. “Joy Behar is an unrelated loser who suffers from a severe case of Trump Mad Syndrome,” they said. The spokesperson also noted that the show had low ratings last year and suggested Behar should reflect on her feelings toward President Trump’s popularity.
Donald Trump Jr. joined in on the conversation via social media, reiterating the “big victory” sentiment.
There’s an interesting dynamic here: some see a problem with how the show has addressed Trump and politics in general. Reports have surfaced that Disney and ABC executives instructed hosts to dial down the critique of Trump.
Despite that, the show’s hosts have frequently criticized Trump and Republicans. Insiders have suggested that executives want to steer the show back to its original purpose—a platform for women’s talk. Meetings were held recently with Disney CEO Bob Iger and ABC News president Armin Karamemedovich to discuss moving the focus away from politics.
According to one source, Karamemedovich praised episodes featuring celebrity guests and encouraged similar content moving forward.
Interestingly, while changes were suggested, this left the hosts somewhat bewildered. Ana Navarro reportedly expressed concerns, stating, “This is what our audience wants. Does that seem a bit bad when we’re not talking about politics?”
