Former Teacher Accused of Misconduct in Alabama
Authorities in Alabama have charged a former teacher from a Christian school with sexual misconduct involving a 16-year-old female student. The situation escalated when it was reported that the former teacher contacted another teen, leading her to cancel her bond.
Sarah Huggins Logan, who taught at North River Christian Academy, allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with a student while at the school.
A mother alerted authorities after discovering a message on her daughter’s phone, suggesting a romantic and sexual relationship between Logan and the victim.
Logan reportedly told investigators that she and the girl had sexual encounters at her residence in Boule.
Detectives from the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office conducted interviews and gathered evidence, which led to a warrant for Logan’s arrest.
Logan, 35, was taken into custody on July 18 and charged with engaging in sexual activity with a student. The bond was set at $5,000, and she was released, under strict conditions, only to contact her own children.
The situation took another turn when Logan created a new social media account post-release. She sent a friend request to a 17-year-old, violating the judge’s order. As a result, District Judge James Gentry revoked her bond, and she remained in custody.
Captain Jack Kennedy mentioned that there might be additional victims and more charges could be forthcoming. The investigation is supported by North River Christian Academy.
Logan served both as a teacher and a volleyball coach at the academy, which emphasizes a Christ-centered education.
School officials stated they were aware of the allegations against Logan and promptly contacted state and local authorities.
On their Facebook, school representatives expressed their condolences to those impacted, acknowledging the difficulty of the situation: “We prayed for them and encouraged the whole school family to embrace them in their personal prayers.” They also mentioned the importance of supporting families directly affected.
The academy clarified that Logan was no longer employed for reasons unrelated to her arrest.
The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information related to child sexual abuse or potential victims to come forward and contact investigators.
