Trump Warns of Immigration Crisis in Europe During Scotland Visit

President Donald Trump arrived in Scotland on Friday, expressing concerns about the immigration crisis, which he claimed is “killing” Europe. He referred to the situation as a “terrifying invasion” and criticized European leaders for not taking stronger action against mass immigration.

While Trump has effectively closed the southern border with Mexico, he noted that the UK and Europe are struggling to deal with a steady flow of illegal immigrants arriving from France. “If you don’t get your actions together, you won’t have Europe anymore,” he told reporters upon landing at Prestwick Airport.

“We closed our country down last month. No one came in. We removed a lot of bad people who were allowed in by Biden,” he said, highlighting a contrasting approach to immigration management. He went on to criticize Biden, referencing a peak month in December 2023 when Border Patrol made 249,785 arrests, suggesting that the current administration has been ineffective.

Trump elaborated, “But you have allowed it to happen in your country. You need to stop this terrible invasion happening across Europe.” Recent data shows a notable increase in small boat crossings, with over 44,000 incidents reported annually in the UK.

This year alone, around 22,500 individuals have arrived in the UK via this route, a significant rise from prior years. Hungary and Poland stand out for their strict immigration policies, with Hungary’s Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, being an ally of Trump’s.

During his five-day trip, Trump will not only engage in discussions about immigration but will also focus on trade agreements with British Prime Minister Kier. Notably, he praised the UK’s efforts in concluding a trade deal after a long period of negotiations.

“I like your prime minister. He’s a bit more liberal than I am, but he’s a good guy who has successfully negotiated a trade deal,” Trump remarked. He also mentioned that he plans to meet with Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, to discuss securing a significant trade agreement with Europe.
