Preview of Sunday shows: Trump stays involved in Epstein situation as tariff deadline approaches

Members of the Trump administration and cabinet are still caught in a web of controversy concerning documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. This topic is expected to take center stage on Sunday’s shows.

Congress and various national figures are urging leaders to disclose names associated with Epstein, including past clients and business partners. They want President Trump to fulfill his campaign promise of making actions by previously convicted criminals transparent.

This call for information follows a July memo from the combined efforts of the FBI and the Department of Justice (DOJ), which indicated that Epstein did not keep a “client list” and that the government would not be releasing related files.

Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s long-time associate, has agreed to discuss the sex trafficking ring that involved Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche during an interview this week.

Maxwell’s attorney expressed gratitude for what they described as an in-depth interview, claiming, “No one was off limits.” They believe that truth will emerge from these discussions.

While she has received limited immunity in her appeal to overturn her conviction in the Supreme Court, DOJ officials are skeptical. They still commend her cooperation, but there’s also speculation about whether the president is supporting Epstein’s accomplice, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.

Lawmakers are expressing frustration over delays in releasing new evidence related to Epstein, prompting a vote for new testimonies before the House Oversight Committee.

The House Surveillance Subpanel has approved subpoenas for the DOJ to provide materials concerning the Epstein case.

Representatives Michael McCall from Texas and Riley Moore from West Virginia are set to discuss strategies within the GOP regarding investigations into Epstein without crossing paths with the Trump administration. McCall will appear on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” while Moore is scheduled for CNN’s “The State of the Union.”

Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries from New York plans to address the Democratic push for greater transparency relating to the president’s ties to Epstein’s misconduct on ABC’s Sunday program.

In other news, the White House is engaging with foreign nations to encourage beneficial trade agreements for the U.S. Earlier this month, officials sent letters informing countries about new tariff charges that will take effect starting August 1.

Senator Chris Coons from Delaware intends to discuss the potential adverse effects of these tariffs on American businesses during his appearances on Fox News’ “Fox News Sunday” and NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

This week, the market responded positively as Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell addressed criticisms from the president, clarifying projected costs associated with various initiatives. The S&P 500 experienced a 0.4% gain, while the Dow Jones rose by 208 points, or 0.47%.

There is a keen interest in hearing more from the Fed regarding the impending tariffs, as Americans could soon start feeling their impact.

Senator Katie Britt from Alabama is expected to highlight how various businesses might adapt, or struggle, under the new trade policy during her Sunday show appearances.

All of these topics will come up this Sunday, and here’s a look at the guests scheduled for the shows:
