Repeated Butt Sniffer Taken into Custody Again in California

A man from Glendale, known for previous inappropriate behavior, has been arrested after police received reports about a suspicious individual at a department store in Burbank, California. The suspect, 38-year-old Cares Caron Crowder, was taken into custody after officers reportedly saw him leaning behind a woman and inappropriately sniffing her.

According to a press release from the Burbank Police Department, officers were called to the Nordstrom Rack at 1601 North Victory Place after an employee reported the man’s behavior. However, by the time they arrived, Crowder had already left the store. The police initiated a search for him in surrounding businesses.

While looking for Crowder at a nearby Walmart, officers monitored the store’s surveillance footage. They noticed him walking around various departments and following female customers.

Officers later observed Crowder on video as he inappropriately sniffed the backside of a female shopper. Following this incident, they moved in and arrested him for further questioning.

Authorities have revealed that Crowder is an active parolee and registered sex offender with a significant history of voyeurism and burglary in the Burbank and Glendale regions. This isn’t the first time he’s faced accusations related to this kind of behavior; in August 2023, a video went viral on social media showing him creeping up behind a woman at a Barnes & Noble bookstore.

Crowder’s criminal history dates back further, with records indicating that he was arrested in June 2011 for a series of voyeurism and burglary cases. He served eight years in prison following a conviction for those offenses.

Additionally, records show he’s been linked to multiple peeping and robbery cases between 2020 and 2021, leading to his arrest again in September 2021 for similar charges of wandering and disorderly conduct.

Crowder is currently being held on a $100,000 bail, facing charges of wandering with intent to commit a crime. His next court date is set for August 1, 2025.
