School board chair in Florida removes remarks praising Hulk Hogan's death as 'one less MAGA'

Sarah Rockwell, Chair of the Florida County Board of Education, has issued an apology following her Facebook comment about the passing of renowned wrestler Hulk Hogan. Her post, which she described as the “one magazine” of the world, raised eyebrows.

Rockwell’s original comment read, “Oh, did Hulk die? I didn’t know. Good. There are fewer one magazine in the world.” She later added that he had collaborated with the McMahons in ways she deemed negative, stating she didn’t feel any sorrow about his death.

After her remarks gained traction online, Rockwell removed them from her school board Facebook page and expressed regret over what she had said. In her apology, she acknowledged that her comment was cruel and inappropriate.

“A few days ago, I made a cruel and light comment from my personal Facebook account about a friend’s post regarding Hulk Hogan’s death,” she wrote on Saturday. “I deeply regret making that comment and deleting it. I want to be clear that my views should not harm anyone.” Later, she emphasized the importance of representing all students and families in Alachua County.

Rockwell stated, “I sincerely apologize for eroding my ability to represent everyone. Ensuring the well-being of children and public schools should always be my priority.” She expressed a commitment to keeping kids and schools first in her role.

Hulk Hogan, born Terry Borea, passed away at 71 due to cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida. He enjoyed a storied career as a six-time WWE champion, twice winning the Royal Rumble, and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 as an individual and again in 2020 as part of the NWO. Additionally, he was a six-time world heavyweight champion in WCW and held the IWGP championship in New Japan pro wrestling.

At the previous year’s Republican National Convention, Hogan publicly supported President Donald Trump for another term.
