Will the Lions Take a Step Back This Season?
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell expressed that he isn’t “worried” about the team’s prospects this season, even with the departures of key coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn. In a recent discussion, analysts Craig Carton, Danny Perkins, and Mark Schleles shared their thoughts on what to expect from the Lions.
On another note, Jon Gruden, who has been absent from the NFL following a fallout due to an email scandal tied to the Las Vegas Raiders, recently made an appearance at a Detroit Lions training camp. He seemed optimistic about returning to coaching, hinting that he still has something to contribute to the league.
“Hopefully, I’m not finished,” Gruden told reporters. “I’m about to make a comeback. I’m working hard to get another shot, but I hope those who I’ve worked with might consider hiring me.” He added rather candidly, “I don’t care if I’m coaching at Jones Middle School or not. I’m going to coach again. While I’m not officially part of a team right now, I’ve got my own projects I’m tackling.”
It’s worth noting that Gruden parted ways with the Raiders during the 2021 season after allegations surfaced regarding his use of offensive language in emails. Since then, he has maintained a presence in the football community, assisting the New Orleans Saints when Derek Carr was their quarterback, and being honored by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He even hosted a show for Barstool Sports, focusing on rookie quarterbacks before the draft.
The future of his coaching career remains uncertain; he holds a record of 117-112 along with a Super Bowl title, but it is unclear if he will secure another official coaching position in the NFL.
