Myles Turner shares details about Bucks situation: 'Giannis arrives whenever he likes'

Bucks’ Issues Come to Light through Myles Turner

Myles Turner recently shed some light on the chaotic situation surrounding the Milwaukee Bucks this season, particularly how it relates to star player Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Turner revealed in a podcast that he signed a surprising four-year contract worth $108.9 million last offseason after leaving the Pacers. Brianna Stewart, co-host of the “Game Recognition Game” podcast, mentioned various internal issues within the Bucks, especially regarding punctuality.

“Seriously, even if the plane was supposed to leave at 2 PM, we’d be leaving around 4:30,” Turner remarked. “It was intense. We often ended up being hours late. At one point, we showed up an hour after the scheduled departure. It was wild.”

When Stewart inquired who was the biggest offender when it came to punctuality, Turner didn’t hesitate to name Giannis. “Oh, that’s easy, it’s Giannis. He really just comes in whenever he wants. And honestly, who could blame him? I mean, if you’ve got the talent, why not?”

Stewart, a prominent player for the WNBA’s Liberty, also noted that new coach Chris DeMarco had introduced a fine system, including a $25 charge for not boxing out during free throws. Turner added that the previous Bucks coach, Doc Rivers, never imposed fines.

“Guys were just arriving to shoot whenever they felt like it. Missing meetings, too. It was one of the most bizarre experiences I’ve had,” Turner reflected.

He pointed out that other teams routinely implement fines to maintain discipline.

Despite a disappointing 32-50 regular season, new coach Taylor Jenkins is stepping into this mess, and changes will definitely be essential.

With Turner’s comments and the noticeable dysfunction within the organization, speculation is growing that Antetokounmpo might be traded this offseason.

During a recent press conference introducing Jenkins, Bucks co-owner Jimmy Haslam stated, “We’re committed to doing what’s best for Giannis and the team. We’re not sure if he’ll continue with us, but we’ll work closely with him in the coming weeks to figure things out.”

A resolution to this complex situation is anticipated ahead of the NBA Draft in June 2026.

Antetokounmpo has expressed frustration with the team for mandating an end to his season due to injury, insisting he’s fit to play. If a trade does occur, the Celtics appear to be the frontrunners.
