Kennedy Burke sidelined for several weeks due to new injury

Minneapolis – Freedom seems to be struggling at the forefront of injuries.

Kennedy Burke, the defending champion, is now sidelined with an injury that will likely keep her out for several weeks.

On Tuesday, sources reported that she has a low-grade strain in her right calf.

Burke sat out the second half of Saturday’s game against the Sparks.

By Monday’s game, she was officially listed as “out” due to a “rest” designation related to her injury.

After undergoing imaging in Dallas that night, it was confirmed she has some tension. She’s expected to be out for two to four weeks, aiming for a full recovery before September.

It seems Burke won’t be experiencing much freedom in the near future.

Breanna Stewart also sustained a right foot injury early in Saturday’s match, marking her second straight game missed.

Imaging indicated that Stewart avoided a “serious injury,” yet a clear timeline for her return remains uncertain. She watched Monday’s loss in Dallas from the sidelines.

Nyara Sabally is projected to miss the next two to three weeks as the team tries to gear up for the playoffs.

Burke’s injuries come at a tough time, disrupting what had been a remarkable season for the 28-year-old guard/forward.

She was achieving career highs with averages of 8.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 steals. On top of that, she was shooting 49.6% from the field, 47.5% from three-point range, and 75% from the free-throw line.
