O’Reilly Criticizes Schumer Over Trade Deal Remarks

Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly expressed strong disapproval of Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer on Tuesday. This came in response to Schumer’s comments regarding a trade deal with President Donald Trump’s “fake” European Union.

Schumer, speaking on the Senate floor Monday, challenged the agreement and countered Trump’s assertion that it represented “the biggest deal ever.” O’Reilly highlighted Schumer’s remarks in a clip, where the senator claimed Trump was exaggerating, calling the deal “fake.”

After playing the clip, O’Reilly accused Schumer of dishonesty, stating, “No, not. Schumer is lying.” He explained that he typically uses more measured language but felt this case warranted a direct accusation. O’Reilly mentioned that he previously maintained a decent rapport with Schumer, even reaching out to him when he was in New York.

“I don’t respect Charles Schumer. None. In my view, he does not love this country and isn’t looking out for anyone,” O’Reilly continued. “He’s a ranked propagandist.” He emphasized that such rhetoric isn’t common for him, showing a certain frustration.

Schumer’s office did not respond to a request for comments regarding O’Reilly’s statements.

Moreover, Schumer referenced a report from the Wall Street Journal, questioning the feasibility of European Commission President Ursula von Der Leyen’s commitment to purchasing $250 billion worth of American energy over three years.

The EU is also subject to 15% tariffs on a majority of goods entering the U.S., alongside a commitment to invest $600 billion in the U.S. economy by 2028 and acquire significant military equipment. According to a fact sheet from the White House, this includes a 50% customs duty on steel, aluminum, and copper.
