Arrest Made in Double Murder Case at Arkansas State Park
The Arkansas Department of Public Safety reported on Wednesday that an arrest has been made in connection with the murder of a couple who had tied the knot in front of a child at Devilsden State Park.
Authorities with the Arkansas State Police (ASP) arrested 28-year-old James Andrew McGan from Springdale, who is suspected of the double homicide that occurred last Saturday.
McGan is accused of killing 43-year-old Clinton Brink and 41-year-old Christan Brink. It’s heartbreaking to think about their children, aged 7 and 9, who are now with family.
Initially, police had released a composite sketch after the couple was discovered along a walking trail in the park. In their statement, they suggested that the suspects might have sustained injuries during the attack but had no additional information to share at that time.
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders addressed the situation shortly after the arrest was confirmed, expressing her concerns and support for the Brink family.
“While the tragic events of last weekend will not undo the heartache caused to the Brink family, this news brings some measure of comfort to our state,” she stated. “We commend the Arkansas State Police, Park Rangers, and local law enforcement for their relentless efforts to apprehend the suspect since the incident.” She emphasized that the community stands united against violent crimes in Arkansas.
The FBI is also playing a role in the ongoing investigation.
