Missed Coverage of Cincinnati Brawl
The three major broadcast networks have surprisingly not reported on a violent brawl that took place in Cincinnati, which resulted in several women losing consciousness. As of Thursday, this incident has been notably absent from their main morning and evening news shows.
Media Research Council analyzed programs such as ABC’s “Good Morning America” and “World News Tonight,” CBS’s “Morning News” and “Evening News,” as well as NBC’s “Today” and “Night News.” Their findings revealed that none of these shows covered the incident. However, while ABC and NBC websites discussed it, NBC’s early morning segments also featured some reporting.
Five individuals face charges related to the altercation, which escalated during the early hours of Saturday. Video footage shows a man in a polo shirt being violently attacked by multiple individuals, while a woman who attempted to intervene was forcibly knocked out. Images of the female victim, referred to as Holly, depict her with black eyes and bruised lips.
Cincinnati mayoral candidate Bernie Moreno has criticized city leadership for their handling of the situation. He emphasized the need for better response to such incidents in a recent interview, labeling the violence as a “serious situation.”
“Cincinnati is a wonderful city built by great people over the years,” Moreno remarked, expressing his discontent with the local politicians who, he believes, are failing the community.
Moreno also mentioned plans from the city’s leaders to protect civil rights and noted that failure to address these matters could lead to funding withdrawal from federal agencies. In the wake of the brawl, the Cincinnati Police Chief has faced scrutiny and has stated that the video circulating does not represent the complete story.
“That’s just one perspective on what happened,” she remarked, suggesting that the situation is more complex than it appears in the footage.
Interestingly, a Facebook account linked to city council members claimed the victims were somehow to blame for the attack, stating, “I beg for that beatdown!” However, ABC, CBS, and NBC did not respond to inquiries regarding their lack of coverage.
