Mets' Francisco Lindor believes Juan Soto was overlooked for the All-Star team.

Mets’ Lindor Pushes for Soto’s All-Star Inclusion

A few weeks back, the New York Mets had four players representing them at the All-Star Game in Atlanta. However, shortstop Francisco Lindor is making the case for another teammate to have made the trip—Juan Soto. Lindor, 31, expressed that Soto should have joined the squad.

After discussing Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen, Lindor remarked, “We hope we can get players like him in every All-Star Game.” He added, “I wish he was with us. He deserves it. He would have been there for sure.”

Soto had a slow start to the season but really picked up momentum before the All-Star break. So far, in 106 games, he has managed a .248 batting average, with 25 home runs, 62 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases. Still, Lindor pointed out that Soto isn’t the only player overlooked for the game.

Lindor emphasized, “It wasn’t just that he could say a lot of the players around the league didn’t get the recognition they deserved.” He believes Soto is among the league’s top hitters and has the potential to achieve great stats by the end of the season, perhaps even earning a Silver Slugger award.

Alongside Lindor, the Mets’ roster included first baseman Pete Alonso, closer Edwin Diaz, and starting pitcher David Peterson as their representatives in the National League.

With the All-Star Game now behind them, the Mets are concentrating on their divisional rivalry with the Philadelphia Phillies. Currently, the Mets hold a slight half-game lead over the Phillies, with both teams vying for the top spot in the NL East.

Lindor noted that the Mets need to discover their “best version” as they aim for postseason contention. “We’ve been trying to stay ourselves, continue to play the game the right way, push each other and support each other,” he stated.
