Incident in Pasadena Involving Alleged Assault by Honduran Immigrant

Jose Maldonado Zavala, a 60-year-old from Honduras, is facing serious charges after reportedly luring a woman into his apartment in Pasadena, Texas, under the pretense of a leaking air conditioner. Investigators note that on July 2, he allegedly grabbed the victim and assaulted her, though she fought back and managed to escape.

Tricia McLaughlin, Deputy Chief of Homeland Security, commented on the situation, stating that such individuals should not be allowed to remain in the U.S. She emphasized that criminals like Maldonado Zavala are precisely whom they’ve been working to keep out. He had been previously deported in 2011, yet he re-entered the country at an unknown time and location, bypassing the necessary immigrant screening.

Maldonado Zavala’s record includes prior deportation after he crossed into the U.S. near Hidalgo, Texas, back in 2011, showcasing a troubling pattern of behavior. The police are now investigating further, suggesting there may be additional victims connected to him. They are reaching out to the community to see if anyone else has had interactions with him that could be concerning.

His bond is set at $250,000, according to reports, and there’s a significant focus on preventing criminals like him from endangering residents.
