Reports indicate that a couple inadvertently left their 10-year-old son at the airport in Barcelona after discovering their passports had expired. According to The Sun, airport personnel stated that the family departed from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airport without their child on Wednesday and opted to contact a relative instead.
A TikTok video featured an air traffic controller discussing the situation. He mentioned that the child required a visa to travel, which they didn’t have, leading to the child being left at the terminal while a call was made for someone to pick him up.
According to the report, airport staff located the boy and noted that he had alerted authorities. “He mentioned that his parents were heading back to their home country after a vacation,” the report said.
The pilot of the plane was also informed and confirmed that police had been notified about the minor being left behind.
In other news, a Florida father was arrested after he allegedly died in a hot car while attending to his toddler, raising questions about parental responsibilities.
The pilot even asked passengers if anyone had inadvertently left a child at the terminal. The parents were traveling with a younger child as well.
They were eventually taken to the police station to reunite with their son. Lillian, the air traffic controller, expressed disbelief, saying, “How could parents leave their 10-year-old at the terminal because of documentation issues? Reaching relatives can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours.”
It remains unclear whether the parents are facing any legal charges regarding the incident.
