Authorities have confirmed that four individuals were shot and killed when a man, identified as a former Army veteran, opened fire at a bar in Anaconda, Montana, on Friday morning.
At approximately 10:30 AM, 45-year-old Michael Brown entered the bar and started shooting, resulting in the deaths of 59-year-old Daniel Edwin Bailey, 64-year-old Nancy Lauretta Kelly, 70-year-old David Allen Leach, and 74-year-old Tony Wayne Palm.
Search efforts are ongoing in the area west of Anaconda, where Brown was last sighted. A photo released by authorities depicts Brown walking down stairs, appearing barefoot and shirtless.
As a manhunt intensifies, officials have noted that Brown’s abandoned white F-150 pickup truck was found, but he was not located nearby.
Brown was captured on camera fleeing the scene wearing black shorts. The motivations behind the shooting remain unclear. DCI administrator Lee Johnson mentioned that while they cleared Brown’s residence, there have been no confirmed reports of him harming anyone else, although he is still considered armed and dangerous.
The search efforts have shifted focus to the mountains near Stumptown Road, using both air and ground teams. Residents in the vicinity are advised to stay indoors and alert. If anyone sees Brown, they are encouraged to avoid him and contact authorities immediately. He is described as about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing around 170 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair.
Michael Brown served in the Army from January 2001 to May 2005 and with the National Guard from April 2006 to March 2008. He was deployed to Iraq between February 2004 and March 2005 and attained the rank of Sergeant before leaving service. Additionally, he was part of the Montana National Guard as an armor crew member until March 2009.
