Single mother who was attacked by a mob in Cincinnati shares her struggles with pain and anxiety: 'I should be dead'

A single mother was brutally attacked by a mob in downtown Cincinnati, and she’s recently opened up about the emotional and physical toll it’s taken on her.

In an emotional interview, the woman expressed disbelief at her survival. “I honestly don’t know how I’m not dead,” she said, her voice trembling as she reflected on the violence she endured.

She mentioned, “Doctors thought I should be dead,” during her conversation on a show, highlighting the severity of her injuries.

Recalling the attack from July 26, she described suffering from brain trauma, still bearing visible bruises and dark circles under her eyes.

“I wasn’t able to sleep for days. The last hospital visit was pretty scary; my throat closed up and I literally couldn’t breathe,” she shared, breaking down in tears.

While recovering, she found herself plagued with distressing thoughts. “What if my soul hadn’t stayed in my body? What would that mean for my kids?” she pondered, clearly still shaken. “I’m not okay,” she added, revealing her ongoing struggle.

“The thought of what would have happened if I had died… it’s something I can’t shake off,” she said, acknowledging the long-lasting effects of the incident.

Previously, on a Sunday, Holly mentioned she had been frequently hospitalized over the past week and is now in hiding due to threats against her life.

She explained that she had been out celebrating a friend’s birthday when she encountered the group involved in the brawl. “We were just waiting for an Uber outside; we didn’t mean to get mixed up in that,” she recounted.

Video footage captures the chaotic scene, showing Holly alongside several men confronting someone, leading to the violent outbreak.

One of the alleged attackers, Montiernez Merriweather, 34, claimed he was targeted with racial slurs just before the confrontation escalated into violence.

The victims were subjected to punches and kicks while on the ground, with Holly notably bleeding from her mouth.

The precise reason behind the attack remains unclear, and she didn’t specify any triggers during her latest comments.

Merriweather, along with Jermaine Matthews, 39, and 24-year-old Dekira Vernon, who reportedly assaulted Holly from behind, has been arrested and charged with various offenses including felony assault. Another suspect, Dominique Kittle, 37, was taken into custody a few days later.
