Tourist mocks bison at Yellowstone National Park: video

What a reckless move!

A recent clip captured by onlookers showed a tourist trying to confront a bison in Yellowstone National Park last month, in a rather foolish display of bravado.

The incident occurred on July 24, when this man got alarmingly close—within mere feet—of a bison while it was grazing, blatantly disregarding park guidelines.

The bison, although large, is surprisingly quick and can reach speeds of up to 30 mph, enough to launch someone quite a distance.

Clearly not pleased with the intrusion, the bison moved aggressively, just a few feet from the man, fixing him with an intense stare.

“Is he provoking it?” remarked one person filming as the bison edged closer.

Before long, our bold daredevil seemed to lose his nerve and hurriedly backed away, nearly tripping over some logs during his escape.

Once he felt safe, however, the tourists reverted to a cocky demeanor, with someone off-camera saying, “That was too close, but I think I actually enjoyed it.”

Park officials consistently advise keeping a distance of at least 25 feet from bison and strongly caution against engaging with these powerful animals.

Surprisingly, the unidentified tourist attempted to provoke the bison not just once, but twice, with the second attempt caught on film.

And it’s worth noting—other visitors haven’t been as fortunate.

This year alone, two men from New Jersey and Florida encountered serious trouble after getting too close to bison in separate incidents.

In a tragic twist, even some bison have faced dangers in the park. A bison walked into hot springs back in June and, unfortunately, perished, leaving onlookers aghast.
