Homeland Security Concerns Over Increased Attacks on ICE Agents

Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem recently stated that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are experiencing a staggering increase in assaults—an alarming 1,000%. These agents are, according to her, putting their lives on the line to detain serious criminals and undocumented immigrants.

Noem attributed these violent acts to negative portrayals from certain politicians on social media. She emphasized, in a post on X, that law enforcement will not be deterred: “Every day, law enforcement continues to enforce the law and arrest the most dangerous criminals, including pedophiles, terrorists, and gang members.”

However, there’s a degree of uncertainty regarding how long this 1,000% increase has been ongoing. When asked for clarification, the Department of Homeland Security did not provide any details to Fox News Digital.

Noem Highlights Threat Levels for ICE Agents

In July, Fox News Digital reported a significant 830% surge in attacks against ICE agents between January 21 and July 14, 2025, compared to the same timeframe in 2024. Interestingly, this period kicked off right after President Donald Trump resumed office.

Noem made her announcement following a recent recruitment campaign by the Trump administration, which has lifted age restrictions for ICE positions, potentially making way for many veterans looking to transition into these roles.

Upcoming Recruitment Drive

The agency aims to hire about 10,000 new personnel, with Noem mentioning that they’ve already received around 80,000 applications. “We’ve eliminated the age cap for ICE Law Enforcement. Qualified candidates can now apply without any age limitations,” she communicated on X.

Moreover, to attract more applicants, ICE is offering incentives such as signing bonuses of up to $50,000, student loan repayment options, and additional benefits.
