Rep. Corey Mills Denies Allegations of Threatening Behavior
Rep. Corey Mills (R-FLA) is defending himself against allegations that he threatened to share explicit photos and videos of a female GOP state commissioner, Lindsay Langston. Mills, who has a criminal defense attorney, claims these accusations are unfounded and misleading.
A police report filed with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office details Langston’s accusations, in which she alleges that Mills threatened to share nude images and sexual videos, including footage of him engaging in sexual activity.
Langston subsequently filed a stalking petition against Mills in County Court, but it was denied this week. The judge’s rationale for the dismissal is currently unclear.
“Typically, if you can walk into court with a solid case for a restraining order, the evidence needs to be compelling,” Mills stated. “The judge found the claims to be entirely baseless.”
Mills is one of 409 members in the House of Representatives and voted in favor of legislation criminalizing “revenge porn,” a term for the non-consensual sharing of explicit photos. His support for the Take It Down Act aims to address issues surrounding unauthorized intimate depictions.
Convictions under this new law can result in severe penalties, including up to three years in federal prison for adult images and harsher sentences for images involving minors.
Former Daytona Beach Commissioner Aaron Delgado is representing Mills in the ongoing investigation. He remarked that he was unaware of any alleged violations of federal or state laws regarding revenge pornography, suggesting the context of leaked messages is critical.
Mills, who began his term in January 2023, has condemned his past political rival, Anthony Sabatini, for allegedly using the judicial system inappropriately against him.
“It’s unfortunate when politics turns into personal revenge,” Mills commented.
The stalking petition did not go to a hearing, as Langston filed it without legal representation. Sabatini remarked that substantiating claims of physical tracking is generally involved in such cases.
Neema Ramani, an attorney experienced in sex crimes, posited that Mills may be in violation of the Revenge Porn Act. He noted, “Written evidence of someone’s actions is often beneficial in legal contexts. Langston appears to have a strong case.”
Ramani suggested that the House Ethics Committee should conduct an immediate investigation into the situation, highlighting that consequences for lawmakers could include censure or resignation.
Meanwhile, Mills expressed his dedication to serving his constituents in Florida’s District 7, insisting he remains focused on his responsibilities despite the ongoing allegations.
Sabatini further claimed that if Mills weren’t a public figure, he would have “already been arrested,” and he later mentioned in a tweet that the House is scheduled for a hearing regarding Langston’s stalking petition.
Langston noted that she and Mills were in a relationship from November 2021 until February 2025, ending things after discovering he had started seeing someone else.
There were also allegations of Mills previously being aggressive toward another partner, which contributed to Langston’s decision to leave him.
Langston’s statement includes a claim that Mills threatened her when he suspected she might move on to another relationship after their breakup.
As investigations unfold, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement has confirmed that they referred the case to the local sheriff’s office for inquiries.
Langston has indicated that she decided to leave Mills following news reports regarding his alleged violence toward past partners. The two had been cohabiting in Newuna Beach, Florida, since May 2024 amid ongoing legal issues.
