Unexpected encounter as a reptile handler effortlessly retrieves a 20-foot python from a dumpster in Los Angeles

A remarkable video shows a daring reptile rescuer named Joseph Hart jumping into a trash can to capture a massive 20-foot python with just his bare hands.

Last week, Hart found himself in a bit of a predicament when he discovered a loose snake in his Los Angeles apartment. He didn’t have any tools or protective gear—just a t-shirt and jeans—as he quietly approached the python, which was perched on the trash can.

After bravely capturing the snake, he playfully allowed it to wrap around him, much to the surprise of onlookers.

Hart later shared this incredible encounter on social media, expressing excitement about what he called a “good old reptile shaking.”

In his post, he mentioned that the unfortunate snake, which he named “Apple,” was abandoned in a bottle container inside the trash can.

Initially, the resident who discovered the snake called the police, who then contacted the fire station for assistance.

The python was likely left behind due to a bacterial infection known as mouth rot, Hart, 24, noted. “It breaks my heart because the previous owners probably felt overwhelmed by the thought of seeking medical treatment, which can get costly. But abandoning pets is definitely not the solution,” he stated.

Although Apple was initially scheduled for euthanasia, she is expected to make a full recovery in about three months.

Hart promised to do everything possible to help her thrive and expressed hope that she would ultimately serve as an educational animal for his work as a reptile rescuer.
