Katy Perry set to give evidence in $15 million house sale conflict with veteran's family.

Cameron Westcott, known from “The Real Housewives of Dallas,” is speaking out amid a prolonged legal battle involving her family and Katy Perry regarding a $15 million mansion in Montecito. The conflict began when Cameron’s father-in-law, Carl Westcott, a veteran and founder of 1-800-Flowers, filed a contract concerning the property with Bernie Goodwie, who was managing Perry’s affairs. Carl subsequently requested to withdraw the contract, citing his inability to finalize the deal due to health issues stemming from a surgery and brain damage.

After five years of conflict, Perry is set to testify later this month regarding claims related to the lawsuit, particularly concerning lost rental income. The rest of the Westcott family is expected to also attend. Cameron expressed frustration about needing to go to court, especially given her stepfather’s deteriorating health due to Huntington’s disease and dementia. “This isn’t what we wanted,” she admitted. “It’s heartbreaking to be in this situation.”

In November 2023, Judge Joseph Lipner ruled in favor of Goodwie, stating that he was entitled to sell the Montecito residence acquired for Perry in 2020. The court, discussing the reliability of Wescott’s testimony about his competence, concluded it was not credible. However, there were contradicting testimonies from individuals who had interacted with Carl during the contract negotiations, suggesting he was in a position to understand and engage in contractual agreements.

The legal proceedings, broken into two phases, had the damages phase last year, with the penalty phase scheduled soon. Although Perry is compelled to testify, the Westcott family also seeks testimony from Perry’s ex-fiancé, Orlando Bloom, as his involvement in property matters may be relevant. “He claimed he was responsible for repairs during the sale,” Cameron noted, suggesting this makes him a key figure in the case.

The family’s attorney emphasized that while they aren’t fixated on monetary compensation, they want to ensure that everyone, regardless of fame, abides by the same rules. “It’s not just about money,” the attorney stated. “It’s about fairness.”

Cameron voiced her frustration about the way they perceive the situation, believing that Perry and Bloom lack empathy. “It’s materialistic for them,” she remarked. “I hope they never experience this with their families.”

In the midst of the court proceedings, she just wants some peace for her family. “We want to move beyond this and hope my stepfather can find some solace,” she shared. “He’s a fighter, but it’s tough watching him go through all of this.”

As of now, representatives for both Perry and Bloom have not commented on the ongoing situation.
