David Clauder Cancels Shows After Emergency Surgery
Christian musician David Clauder has postponed several upcoming performances due to an unexpected leg injury that required emergency surgery. He recently shared on Instagram, “I wasn’t as athletic as I thought. I broke my leg and had to have emergency surgery, which included some plates and screws.” He included a photo of himself recuperating in a hospital bed, expressing his eagerness to recover and return to performing, saying, “Thank you for your prayers. I’m trying to find a way to get back as soon as possible.”
In his post, Clauder also mentioned fellow artist Forest Frank, who experienced a miraculous recovery after breaking his back just two weeks prior.
Clauder was set to perform at the Appalachian Fair in Gray, Tennessee, on August 18, but his slot was filled by Big Daddy Weave due to his recovery. He humorously referred to his doctor as a “bone carpenter,” joking about the repairs needed for his leg.
In a video shared on Facebook, Clauder expressed his desire to perform, stating, “I can’t wait to get back on stage.” He emphasized the connection he feels with his audience, saying, “You’re my people, and we need to meet soon.” The fair’s organizers noted that his doctor advised against traveling for at least a month following his surgery.
While the specifics of Clauder’s injury remain somewhat vague, he has made headlines not only for his health issues but for his recent nominations at the Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards. He received three nominations this year, including one for his music video “Someone’s Prayer” and another for his song “Grave Robber.” The awards ceremony is scheduled for October 7 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
Last month, Clauder expressed his gratitude for the support he received, writing, “I’m honored to be nominated for three Dove Awards this year! I am very thankful for all the amazing people who made this happen!”
