Celebrating Love and Strength: Bronnie James and Parker Whitfield
Bronnie James and his girlfriend, Parker Whitfield, are growing stronger together. Recently, the 20-year-old guard for the Lakers shared a sweet mirror selfie on his Instagram story to commemorate their anniversary.
“Anniversary Dinner!” he posted, with a cheerful vibe that hinting at their connection. Bronnie, who is the eldest son of NBA icon LeBron James, seems to be embracing this moment in the spotlight.
Parker, the daughter of Hollywood producer Sally Richardson Whitfield and actor Donle Whitfield, also joined in on the celebration by reposting the photo on her own Instagram, complete with three pink heart emojis. It’s clear they’re enjoying their time together. She also shared another image of herself in a bikini, alongside Bronnie, reflecting their fun, carefree moments.
Interestingly, the couple has kept quite a bit of their relationship private. They initially sparked dating rumors when they were spotted holding hands in Paris during the summer Olympics last August. At that time, they were accompanied by their younger siblings, Bryce and Sadie Johnson.
The group was seen courtside, cheering on LeBron during a men’s basketball semi-final between Team USA and Serbia. After Team USA secured their gold medal against France, Bronnie and Bryce brought their girlfriends to a private afterparty at L’Avenue Restaurant.
Now, as they celebrate their relationship, Bronnie is also focused on his career. The second-year guard, who was the Lakers’ 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, is undergoing offseason training with aspirations of making head coach JJ Redick’s roster. He mentioned that last year was quite a challenge due to ongoing effects from a heart condition he faced two years ago. After experiencing cardiac arrest linked to a congenital heart defect, he went through surgery, which left a noticeable scar on his chest.
These days, his training includes interval workouts, stationary biking, slope walking, and even wind sprints, emphasizing the importance of strength to improve his game. In a recent Summer League appearance, he discussed how he’s been working towards recovery and gaining strength.
As for his rookie season, Bronnie appeared in 27 games, averaging 2.3 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.8 assists. He had a field goal percentage of 31.3% and hit 28.1% from beyond the arc. His journey between the NBA Lakers and the G-League with the South Bay Lakers saw him average 21.9 points with shooting percentages of 44.3% and 38% from three-point range.
