The Biden administration canceled a planned visit to the National Security Multiple Mission Ship (NSMV) during a tour at a shipyard in Philadelphia because of concerns over the number of stairs involved.
A request filed under the Freedom of Information Act, via the Protect the Public trust, revealed that in July 2023, Biden’s team opted out of touring the NSMV due to the “many steps needed to access the ship.” This decision indicates the administration’s efforts to obscure the extent of former President Joe Biden’s physical and mental health issues.

Emails indicated that the U.S. Maritime Administration (Marad) was involved in significant projects at the Philadelphia Shipyards when Biden intended to visit for discussions on offshore wind and clean energy jobs.
On July 17, 2023, Marad officials communicated with members of the Safe Transportation Agency and included the Ministry of Transport in the correspondence.
This move by Biden’s team followed a notable incident where he experienced a collapse during the U.S. Air Force Academy graduation ceremony the prior month. Reports suggested that he was “traveling on a black sandbag on stage,” but somehow managed to get through the event.
Additionally, videos captured him stumbling up the stairs leading to Air Force One and falling off his bike, pointing to concerns about his mobility.
