CNN commentator Se Cupp has voiced significant criticism regarding how Democrats have responded to President Donald Trump’s recent decision to manage police efforts in Washington, D.C. During her appearance on “CNN Newsnight with Abby Phillip,” she noted, “I think a few things are true.” In this context, she suggested that Trump may use this situation to divert attention from other pressing issues.

Cupp described the treatment towards police by D.C. officials as detrimental, indicating that there have been troubling incidents that arose prior to Trump’s federal involvement in local law enforcement efforts. She stated, “That doesn’t mean it’s a bad political strategy,” acknowledging that while the data might be statistically sound, public sentiment often tells a different story. Emotional reactions to crime and economic issues frequently overshadow straightforward facts.

She pointed out the foolishness of Democrats sticking to just their data and statistical analyses in response to Trump’s actions. In contrast to their claims of improving public safety in the capital, some Democratic leaders have dismissed Trump’s crime agenda, arguing that crime rates in D.C. are at their lowest in thirty years.

Cupp stressed that the Democrats haven’t been honest, recalling how voters reacted negatively when they suggested that everything was fine – from crime rates to economic indicators. “You can’t ignore perception in politics,” she said, highlighting that even accurate figures might not align with how the public feels.

Furthermore, in the wake of increased activities since August 7, D.C. law enforcement has made over 100 arrests, with 43 occurring just recently. It appears that responses to crime and the management of local policing are continuously evolving.
