Infosys Faces Penalty in Singapore

Infosys is currently dealing with a penalty from Singapore’s Inland Revenue Authority. The company disclosed this information in a submission to the stock exchange. They have been fined SGD 97,035, which translates to over Rs 660,000.

In a regulatory filing on August 13, Infosys stated, “This is to inform the company that it has received a correspondence regarding collecting penalties.” The company reassured stakeholders that “there is no material impact on the company’s finances, operations or other activities.”

The penalty relates specifically to “Singapore GST payments for the period from April 2025 to June 2025.”

Infosys Acquires Versent Group

In other news, Infosys has announced its intention to acquire a 75% stake in Versent Group, which is a subsidiary of the Australian telecommunications company Telstra. The acquisition is valued at $233.25 million, or roughly Rs 1,336 trillion. This move was also mentioned in a regulatory submission.

This acquisition is seen as part of a broader strategic collaboration between Infosys and Telstra. It aims to establish a joint venture that will deliver AI-enabled cloud and digital solutions to Australian businesses. Infosys noted, “The partnership with Versent Group, a leader in digital transformation solutions in Australia, will leverage our resources and expertise.”

According to the filing, Versent Group is associated with Telstra Purple Pty Ltd, an integration of Versent, Epicon, Telstra Purple Digital, and other cloud access products. While Infosys will manage operations, Telstra will retain a 25% minority interest in Versent Group.

This collaboration is expected to enhance Versent Group’s capabilities in cloud and digital transformation, integrating Infosys’ advanced AI solutions and cybersecurity functionalities.
