California Governor Newsom Channels Trump in Latest Rant
California Governor Gavin Newsom is attempting to make waves in his district by mimicking President Donald Trump on social media, particularly through posts on X. His aim seems to be to resonate with Trump’s base and echo messages that pertain to Trump’s society.
In one of his posts, Newsom issues a bold warning to “end President Trump,” likely alluding to his initiatives for redrawing California’s congressional districts, which he hopes will help the Democrats gain more power. It’s a strategy he believes may aid in countering Trump’s influence.
Critics note that Newsom’s attempts lack the humor and style associated with Trump, marking yet another instance where the California governor seems to be modeling aspects of Trump’s persona, which Trump himself has previously mocked.
Just last month, Newsom grabbed attention by using the phrase “Rake the Forests” in an effort to shift blame onto the federal government for ongoing wildfires in California. Recent fires, like the Palisade and Eton fires, both ignited on state-owned land, which complicates his stance.
Despite the evacuations of thousands due to these fires, Newsom appears focused on winning over constituents. He seems to believe that primary Democratic voters are more concerned about a candidate’s ability to combat Trump rather than their previous political service or track record.
After two terms, it seems Newsom is settling into a role that prioritizes the fight against the Republican Party, particularly over social issues like transgender rights.
Byron York from the Washington Examiner commented on Newsom’s strategy, calling him an example of someone caught up in an idealized version of reality, convinced that the same tactics will yield different results this time around.
