Hunter Biden’s Comments on Epstein Spark Controversy
During an appearance on “Andrew Callahan and Channel 5,” Hunter Biden stated he would not apologize for suggesting that the late Jeffrey Epstein had “introduced” him to President Donald Trump, a claim he first made in a prior interview.
On August 6, First Lady Melania Trump’s lawyer, Alejandro Brito, disclosed plans to seek legal action for over $1 billion in damages against Biden, asserting that his comments involved “false, defamatory statements.” Reportedly, Hunter has firmly declared that he has no intention of issuing an apology.
Biden expressed that his remarks were based on sources he read, particularly citing journalist Michael Wolf. He characterized the legal threats as a “distraction” from the real issues surrounding Epstein and the victims. “I think they’re bullies,” he remarked, suggesting that they believe a billion-dollar claim would intimidate him. He further stated that if the First Lady and the President wish to clarify their relationship with Epstein, he would be open to discussions about it.
This stance contrasts sharply with other individuals who have received similar letters from the First Lady’s legal team. For instance, on an August 7 podcast episode, Democratic strategist James Kerrville indicated his team had taken down a video discussing the Epstein, Trump, and First Lady connection after receiving the notice and subsequently issued an apology.
Likewise, the Daily Beast has retracted a story from July 30 that claimed the First Lady was “very involved” with Epstein following a legal challenge to the article’s titles and context.
Brito has not yet responded to inquiries from the Daily Caller News Foundation regarding the matter.
