Ukraine carries out drone strikes on southern Russia before Trump-Putin meeting

Ukraine launches drone attacks on southern Russia ahead of Trump-Putin summit

Ukraine has conducted a drone strike targeting cities in southern Russia, resulting in one fatality and injuring at least 16 individuals.

A drone hit an apartment in Rostov-on-Don, injuring 13 people who were later taken to hospitals for care, according to local governor Yury Slyusar.

In a separate incident, a drone attack in Belgorod, which is close to Ukraine, left three people injured, as reported by a local official. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov shared a video that seems to show a drone tracking a vehicle in the city, situated about 24 miles from the Ukrainian border.

On Thursday, Gladkov stated on Telegram that a Ukrainian drone had struck a car in the village of Pristen, resulting in one death.

No comments have been made by Ukrainian officials regarding these attacks.

Andrei Bukarov, the governor of the Volgograd region, mentioned earlier that debris from a Ukrainian military drone attack had caused oil spills at local refineries, leading to a fire.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that their air defense systems intercepted or destroyed nine drones in the Volgograd region on Wednesday and early Thursday, along with a total of 44 Ukrainian drones.

This drone strike takes place amid reports of Russian forces advancing in the eastern Donetsk region this week.

In related news, Trump met with Putin at the Elmendorf Richardson joint base near Anchorage last Friday, marking the Russian President’s first visit to the U.S. since 2015.

The two leaders are expected to hold a joint press conference following their meeting, where they might address developments linked to the Eastern European conflict.

“The president is exploring all avenues to seek a peaceful resolution to the war,” White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt mentioned earlier on “Fox & Friends.”

Trump’s last face-to-face meeting with Putin happened in Helsinki in 2018 during his initial term in office.
