Bernie Sanders declines to debate Mark Levin

Sanders Invited to Discuss Policies

Mark Levin has made multiple invitations for Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) to appear on “LevinTV” and discuss his controversial socialist policies. These include topics like government healthcare systems, significant wealth taxes, and labor plans that favor unions. Despite several public invitations, Sanders has remained silent—almost like a cricket chirping in the night.

One wonders if he’s too engrossed in his “Battle Oligarchy” tour, or perhaps, is he just afraid of facing Levin? It’s possible he’s hesitant because he knows that Levin could challenge him, especially about his admiration for figures like Fidel Castro, whom Sanders defended in a 2020 “60 Minutes” interview and at a subsequent CNN Town Hall.

In that interview, Sanders claimed, “It’s unfair to simply say everything.” He elaborated at the Town Hall, highlighting Cuba’s literacy programs initiated by Castro when he first took power, arguing that the programs helped many people learn to read and write.

Levin found it amusing, pointing out the irony: “Sure, a literacy program sounds great. But the catch? You couldn’t read whatever you wanted. Free speech barely existed. Everything was controlled by the government.”

Levin pointed out that Castro wasn’t just a dictator but someone who orchestrated “genocide” and imprisoned dissenters. His so-called “literacy brigade” wasn’t just about education; it was also about surveillance and loyalty to the regime.

While Sanders insists he is critical of all authoritarian regimes, Levin bluntly calls him a liar: “He’s been supportive of communist leaders throughout his political career, including those in Nicaragua, Cuba, and even in the Soviet Union during his honeymoon in Moscow.” It’s a tangled web of contradictions.

In conclusion, Sanders claims he believes in democracy, yet Levin argues, “No, he doesn’t. He’s manipulating the language to disguise his true beliefs.” Sanders’ connections and sympathies with authoritarianism are, as Levin notes, reminiscent of Stalinist ideologies.

Levin suggests that this is the reason why Sanders avoids appearing on his shows. He knows Levin won’t hold back with the tough questions.
