Tom Cruise turns down invitation for Kennedy Center Honors from President Trump: report

Tom Cruise Declines Prestigious Arts Honor from Trump

Tom Cruise, the 63-year-old star of “Mission: Impossible,” has reportedly turned down a significant arts award from President Donald Trump, citing a “scheduling conflict.”

Although representatives from Cruise and the Kennedy Center have yet to respond to inquiries about this decision, the news follows Trump’s announcement of the stars set to be honored at the upcoming December event.

This year’s honorees include notable figures such as country legend George Strait, Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone, the rock band Kiss, acclaimed British actor Michael Crawford, and famed singer Gloria Gaynor, who expressed her sentiments saying, “I am blessed and honored to receive this award…”

Gaynor emphasized that her goal is to inspire and uplift through her art. Trump, who currently chairs the Kennedy Center, is actively working to reinvigorate the Honorary Program.

During a recent speech, he expressed pride in the 48th Kennedy Center recipients, stating, “They’re incredible. They can’t wait.” He also mentioned his significant involvement in selecting the current year’s honorees, claiming he was “about 98% involved” in the process.

As discussions surrounding the Hollywood awards continue, Trump took the opportunity to critique the Oscars, asserting they have been receiving poor reviews lately due to their focus on political controversies instead of celebrating artistry.

This year marks the end of Cruise’s portrayal of IMF agent Ethan Hunt in “Mission: Impossible – Final Calculation,” a culmination of his role since 1996. Some speculate he may have other commitments, leading to his decision to forgo the prestigious honor.

Sources hinted at Trump’s ongoing commitment to transforming the Kennedy Center, suggesting some even humorously propose it might be renamed to reflect his influence.
