Recall of ESR Halolock Power Banks Due to Fire Hazard

Over 30,000 wireless power banks available for sale in the U.S. and Canada have been recalled due to reports of batteries overheating, causing fires and explosions that resulted in significant property damage.

The affected ESR Halolock Power Banks are identified by model numbers 2G520, 2G505B, and 2G512B, as per the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). These devices feature five circular LED display lights on one side and were sold in several colors including dark blue, light blue, grey, white, and black.

These power banks were on the market from September 2023 until July 2025 through various retailers like Amazon, Home Depot, and the ESR Tech website. It seems that around 24,000 units were purchased in the U.S. and close to 10,000 in Canada.

According to reports, ESR received nine incidents where the batteries ignited, leading to approximately $20,000 in property damage. The CPSC stated, “Recalled Power Bank lithium-ion batteries can overheat and ignite, causing consumers to face fire and burn risks.”

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported linked to this recall. Consumers are advised to immediately cease use of the recalled power banks and reach out to the company for a full refund.

In a separate incident, Dollar General is recalling instant coffee products after discovering glass pieces within the products.

The CPSC also emphasized the need for proper disposal of these products in line with local hazardous waste guidelines, noting, “Lithium-ion batteries require different disposal methods than standard batteries due to their heightened fire risk.”

It’s important for consumers to stay informed and ensure their safety when using such products.
