Kate Gosselin responds to Collin's statements regarding the family's separation.

Kate Gosselin has addressed recent claims made by her estranged son, Colin, on social media. Last Sunday, the former reality star, now 50, posted a video on TikTok titled “Kitchen Talk and Tips.” In the comments section, she responded to fans discussing a screenshot of Colin’s earlier TikTok, where he stated that he and his seven siblings felt “forced” and “attacked” while living in the public eye.

“He knows why…” Kate commented, adding a crying face emoji.

The family, including Colin and his siblings, shot to fame on the TLC reality show “Jon & Kate Plus 8” from 2007 to 2009. After Kate and John Gosselin divorced in 2009, the series continued as “Kate Plus 8” until 2017.

In addition to addressing Colin’s TikTok, Kate also replied to supportive comments from followers. One user reflected on how she once seemed overly strict, saying, “I got it now as a mom of four.” Kate replied, “I was really trying to do my best… a bit enthusiastic at times, perhaps because I was very concerned about my kids.” Another fan recognized how Kate was unfairly portrayed, to which she responded with gratitude, saying, “So true. How kind. Thank you.”

Colin, now 21, recently shared a nostalgic photo with his siblings Maddie and Kara, stating, “Born to be a team, we are against the world.” He expressed feelings of isolation, mentioning, “I’m forced to do it alone and wondering every day what our lives look like.” Colin’s post alluded to the fame and opportunities derived from their childhood, but he questioned the impact on their relationships as siblings.

In the comments section, some fans echoed Colin’s sentiments, hinting at Kate’s role in causing division within the family. “My twin brother and I will no longer talk for our own mother,” one person noted, sympathizing with Colin’s situation.

John and Kate initially garnered fame after having twins and then sextuplets. They filmed two documentaries for their growing family, which unexpectedly launched them into reality TV fame. However, their marriage ultimately fell apart, leading to a tumultuous public split.

Colin reported being diagnosed with a behavioral disorder, and when he was 12, he moved to the Fairmount Behavioral Health System in Philadelphia, with Kate explaining she couldn’t meet his needs at home. Colin has since shared that this separation was painful and contributed to feelings of alienation from his family.

In past interviews, Colin has spoken about how his mother’s treatment of him led to his distancing from her. He indicated that he hasn’t spoken to at least six of his siblings since 2016. Despite the turmoil, Hannah Gosselin said in an interview that she and her brothers didn’t resent their parents for introducing them to television, as they understood the opportunities it provided.
