California Prisoners Gain Public Favor After Assault on Convicted Child Abuser

There’s been quite a buzz lately regarding California prisoners—specifically following an incident where inmates reportedly attacked Graciela Bustamante. She is currently facing charges for the horrific torture and murder of her 8-year-old stepdaughter, Genesis Mata.

The source known as The Stranger covered the statements from Anita Delon, an inmate at L’Eld Prison. It seems that a financial donation was made to assist with her legal matters after the assault on Bustamante on August 8th. A local news outlet noted that Bustamante, often referred to as an “evil stepmother,” appeared unfazed by her serious charges.

Delon seemed quite candid in her responses, saying, “I will definitely do it again,” referring to her participation in the attack.

Witnesses reported seeing Bustamante laughing after returning from court, which struck many as insensitive given her legal troubles. One observer mentioned, “When you’re faced with someone who’s despicable and shows no remorse, you just want to avoid them.” It’s a sentiment that captures the frustrations felt by many regarding the situation.

Reports indicate that the body of Genesis was discovered in a motel bathroom on August 2nd, showing signs of severe abuse. Delon shared that she also has a cousin named Genesis, which brought back painful memories of her own experiences with child services.

“The foster care and CPS systems really need to take these situations seriously,” Delon emphasized. “There’s a troubling trend with these kids, and it breaks my heart, but something has to change.”

Bustamante ended up hospitalized post-attack, although specifics about her condition were not disclosed.

After news of the assault spread, Delon’s commissary account at the prison swelled with donations. Reports mention that her account even surpassed the limit for transactions, which is quite surprising.

Delon herself was taken into custody for charges related to evading police and vehicle theft, and she hasn’t entered a plea in that case. Her bail has been set at $70,000.

Both Bustamante and her husband, Ray Mata Jr., are facing serious charges connected to the tragic death of Genesis. It’s a grim situation, to say the least.
