Zelenskyy Visits White House for Important Talks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived at the White House for crucial discussions with President Donald Trump, who opted for a more formal look this time compared to his usual relaxed attire.
Waving to Trump, Zelenskyy donned a black outfit—black shirt and jacket—as he entered the premises. He is set to return to Washington, D.C. on Monday after a significant meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. They discussed the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Although no peace agreement was reached at the conference, Trump is now advising Ukraine that accepting land swap proposals from Russia might be the quickest way to resolve the situation.
This upcoming meeting will also include key European leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
Many Ukrainian designers speculate that Zelenskyy is likely to come prepared to press for more military support during these high-stakes talks.
Zelenskyy had previously faced questions regarding his attire choices. He typically opts for casual military-style outfits, like dark green t-shirts and sweatshirts, rather than formal suits. During his visit to the White House in February, a reporter questioned his choice of clothing, asking, “Do you own a suit?”
Reports indicate that the White House inquired if Ukraine would be pushing for a military lawsuit during this important meeting.
Dressed in a black t-shirt, Zelenskyy was seen discussing matters with General Keith Kellogg, a special representative for the Ukrainian cause.
It was reported earlier that Zelenskyy might choose a more formal outfit for this meeting. A designer familiar with European leaders indicated he likely wouldn’t wear a polo this time. “I think he’ll go for a black military suit or a military-style shirt with pants, possibly a jacket,” said Elvira Gasanova, a Ukrainian designer. She noted that, after previous comments about his clothing choices, he’s expected to approach this meeting more thoughtfully.
