Joe Burrow’s Record-Setting Season and Arch Manning’s Promising Future
In 2019, Joe Burrow had an incredible college football season, setting a remarkable record with 60 touchdown passes while leading his team to a national championship. That was something many fans will remember. However, in 2021, former Western Kentucky quarterback Bailey Zappe surpassed him by throwing 62 touchdown passes, making quite an impression in the football community.
As the new college football season approaches, LSU Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron has his sights set on Arch Manning, the quarterback for the Texas Longhorns. Reflecting on his experience at a clinic in Texas, Orgeron mentioned, “I had the chance to speak there and see practice. We’ve known Arch since he was a kid in Louisiana, and he always admired Joe Brady.” It seems there’s a lot of buzz around Manning, who, according to Orgeron, bears a resemblance to Burrow in talent and skills.
Orgeron clarified, “We have a great quarterback in Garrett Nussmeier too, but Arch—he’s impressive. He’s just as good, if not closer to Burrow’s level.” That’s quite a statement, considering Burrow’s phenomenal track record.
Manning is in the spotlight as he prepares for his first major test on August 30, when the Longhorns face the reigning national champion Ohio State Buckeyes. As a testament to his potential, Texas has taken the top rank in the Associated Press’ preseason Top 25 College Football Polls. That’s no small feat.
Interestingly, Manning himself seems a bit overwhelmed by the attention. He remarked, “I really don’t know how I formed these opinions about me. They may sound significant, but honestly, the story is simple—I still have to prove myself.” It’s a humble approach, reminding everyone that regardless of expectations, the real test lies ahead on the field.
