Kyle Chrisley and his wife, Ashley, have filed a lawsuit against Rutherford County and two sheriff’s deputies, seeking $1.7 million. This stems from an incident in September 2024 involving an aggravated assault arrest.

Court documents reveal that the couple felt “terrified in their home” on the afternoon of September 9, 2024, claiming they were “punished for seeking help.” The lawsuit alleges that a mechanic, described as angry and dissatisfied, was invited over but ended up kicking down their door, threatening harm, and using his vehicle as a weapon, slamming into an SUV while putting Kyle in danger in front of neighbors.

Kyle Chrisley, known from “Chrisley Knows Best,” was arrested over this altercation in Tennessee. The dispute reportedly began due to financial disagreements concerning car repairs. The lawsuit mentions both men were driving each other out of the garage before things escalated dramatically.

Concerned for her family’s safety, Ashley called the mechanic to address the situation. The altercation resulted in severe vehicle damage and chaotic spins as they navigated the driveway. Later, the mechanic returned, contributing to the ongoing distress in the neighborhood.

Security footage allegedly shows the mechanic making threats, indicating he would confront Kyle directly with his vehicle.

When law enforcement arrived, the mechanic claimed Kyle had attacked him with a knife, a statement contested by neighbors who did not witness any weapon. Kyle countered the accusations, asserting that he was merely defending himself against an intruder, amid fears for his family’s safety.

The lawsuit criticizes the deputies for arresting Kyle instead of the mechanic, asserting there was clear evidence indicating Kyle was the victim. Kyle’s wife attempted to record the situation when she alleged that they faced threats from the police themselves.

In their lawsuit, the Chrisleys express that they should not face consequences for defending their home and families. They are advocating for accountability in a situation that left them feeling unjustly treated. Kyle’s attorney emphasized the need for change, highlighting the traumatic experience the Chrisley family endured.

A spokesperson for the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office declined to comment on the lawsuit.
