Concerns Over Foreign Truck Drivers in the U.S.

Shannon Everett, a co-founder of American truck drivers, recently expressed concerns about the influx of foreign truck drivers operating on American roads. In a discussion on Breitbart News Daily, he highlighted a tragic incident in Florida that resulted in the loss of three lives, linked to Harjindersin, an illegal immigrant who crossed into the U.S. in 2018.

Everett noted that the issue extends beyond states like California that issue licenses to undocumented immigrants. He pointed out that the state has protections that prevent families from pursuing legal action against it. Additionally, he raised alarms about trucking companies registered at questionable addresses without physical terminals, questioning how they ensure safety and compliance.

“It’s as if these companies are ‘ghost’ operations,” he explained. “They deploy trucks from overseas, utilizing Indian drivers and remote dispatchers to communicate through the internet. It’s concerning, especially when you consider how many of these companies are linked to a single address.” He mentioned a specific case in California where over 600 trucking companies were associated with one location.

Continuing on the theme, Everett discussed the inadequacies of insurance in these situations. He mentioned that while many companies claim to have minimum insurance coverage of $750,000, the reality is that hospital bills can often exceed this amount, leaving families struggling with the aftermath of accidents.

“We really need to establish accountability within the shipping industry,” Everett urged. “The federal government must take steps to enforce regulations and ensure that shippers and brokers are held responsible for their actions.” There’s clearly a call for reforms to manage safety and accountability in this sector.

Seemingly, there’s a growing trend of foreign dispatchers directing illegal alien drivers, raising further questions about safety and oversight in the U.S. trucking industry. Everett’s insights serve as a stark reminder of the complexities and challenges facing the industry today.
