Maxwell’s Statements on Trump and Epstein

Ghislaine Maxwell, in a recently released interview with the Department of Justice, stated that she does not recall President Donald Trump giving Jeffrey Epstein a birthday card. This interview was made public on Friday.

In July, Trump filed a lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal after the paper reported on this birthday letter, which was allegedly written by Trump for Epstein back in 2003. The journal described the letter as being outlined with a drawing of a “Naked Woman.”

During the July interview, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche asked Maxwell if she remembered any letters, cards, or memos from Trump. Maxwell responded, “I won’t.”

She mentioned recalling a piece of a book that was gifted to Epstein for his 50th birthday, but emphasized that the discovery materials did not include a letter from Trump. “I remember there was. There was a part of that book,” she said. “But it surprised me, yeah. I was curious about where the rest would be. There was no Mr. Trump.”

Maxwell further noted that outside of the materials presented, she couldn’t confirm whether Trump actually penned the letter.

In a secondary interview, when shown a letter attributed to her from a 2003 birthday book, she stated, “It looks like my handwritten notes… and it looks like my name. But I have no memory of writing it and I don’t remember it at all.”

Trump has consistently denied being the author of any letters to Epstein. “I have never painted my life. I never painted women,” he told the Wall Street Journal. He claimed that the letters purportedly from him were fake, and warned the newspaper against publishing them. He shared this sentiment on social media after initiating his lawsuit.

The DOJ published the interviews with Maxwell that took place on July 24th and 25th. Attorney General Pam Bondy facilitated the meeting between Maxwell and Blanche in July.
