Katy Perry Enjoys Beach Day Amid Legal Battle
Katy Perry recently took a break from her global concert tour to enjoy some time at the beach before stepping into a courtroom for a legal dispute involving her $15 million mansion.
On Thursday, the pop icon was seen soaking up the sun and swimming in the ocean in Miami, Florida. The 40-year-old flaunted her toned figure in a stylish black and white bikini that had buckle accents on the waistband.
Completing her beach look, she sported black sunglasses and small silver hoop earrings. Perry seemed relaxed, opting to forego makeup as she strolled from the water.
Interestingly, Chris Pratt found himself linked to the ongoing legal saga concerning Perry’s mansion, as the trial kicked off.
In candid moments captured during her beach outing, Perry was spotted enjoying coconut water while swimming with friends, joyfully navigating the waves.
Fans can catch her performance at the Kaseya Center in Miami this Saturday night. Following that, she is set to continue her tour with a show at Arena CDMX in Mexico City on April 2nd and conclude it on December 7th at Etihad Park in Abu Dhabi.
Next Tuesday, Perry finds herself embroiled in court, focusing on her ongoing dispute over the $15 million Montecito property. This has been a prolonged legal back-and-forth with the Westcott family regarding the estate.
The trial, which started last year, is divided into two parts, necessitating Perry’s testimony this month. The lawsuit was filed by Carl Westcott, a U.S. Army veteran and founder of 1-800-Flowers, who recently attempted to withdraw a sales agreement concerning the property.
Westcott had purchased the home for approximately $11 million just months prior, chalking up claims of being unable to finalize the sale due to health issues.
In a ruling last November, Judge Joseph Lipner affirmed that Perry’s business manager was entitled to proceed with the sale. As part of the fallout from this ruling, Perry is now seeking damages, citing structural issues and losses in rental income, with claims amounting up to $4.8 million.
The singer is expected to testify on August 26th, coinciding with her daughter Daisy’s fifth birthday. Interestingly, the Westcott family is also pushing for testimony from Perry’s former partner, Orlando Bloom, who recently ended their engagement after nearly nine years.
As this legal drama unfolds, it seems Perry’s summer has become quite the mix of leisure and legal challenges.
