Ghislaine Maxwell Discusses Relationship with Jeffrey Epstein

Ghislaine Maxwell recently revealed details about her long-standing connection with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein during an interview with the Justice Department. The discussion, released on Friday, included both audio recordings and transcripts.

In narrating her associations with Epstein and other notorious figures, Maxwell, who is 63, portrayed herself as the “general manager” of Epstein’s real estate holdings in his later years. The interview, which lasted two days and took place with Attorney General Todd Blanche, shed light on their complicated and often unusual relationship.

In a surprising claim, she noted that the September 11 attacks marked the moment they understood their romantic future was unlikely to happen.

Maxwell, a British socialite now serving time, explained that she began dating Epstein in 1991 after moving to New York, following a broken engagement. Their first meeting occurred over tea at Epstein’s office. Reflecting on that moment, she joked, “There was a giant. It looked like a stain on tomato ketchup, so I was soooo, it was okay,” adding a light-hearted tone to her memory.

She mentioned that their physical relationship began in 1992, stating, “That’s the world I came to,” although they reportedly did not sleep together for nine months after starting their romance.

Maxwell helped Epstein rent a home on the Upper East Side, recalling that he felt like her “lifeline” at that point. She elaborated on their extensive travels together from 1991 to 1999, including a stay at Balmoral Cabin in England.

Their relationship transitioned from professional to romantic between 1992 and 1996, and they spent much time together in Florida. She noted that while they shared a bed during these travels, they never engaged in sexual intercourse regularly due to Epstein’s claimed heart condition and her own medical issues, which limited their sexual activity.

Maxwell observed that Epstein preferred “other forms of sexual activity.” She felt that she spent most of her time in the office with him, often counting the minutes they were together.

Despite their close relationship, Epstein continued to maintain ties with other partners, including Eva Dubin. Maxwell indicated she had knowledge of these connections through his private flight log.

She described her role with Epstein as that of a general manager, stating that she initially earned $25,000 annually, which later grew to $250,000 as she took on more responsibilities, particularly around the time of his imprisonment.

Maxwell noted that they ceased physical intimacy in 1999, but after the national tragedy of 9/11, she felt a profound shift in their relationship. “We were both in New York and we definitely knew that it actually ended after 9/11,” she recalled, highlighting the fear and separation they experienced during that crisis. She believed that if someone wasn’t there for you on such a day, they would never be there.

The evolution of her relationship with Epstein, once filled with intimacy, seemed to cool afterward. Maxwell eventually found a new partner but maintained that Epstein continued to feel like “family” to her.

In 2022, Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison for her part in Epstein’s serial abuse, where her role involved recruiting and facilitating the exploitation of young women. Following her interview with the Justice Department, Maxwell moved quietly to a minimal-security facility in Texas last month.
