2025 US Open Tennis Championship Begins
The final Grand Slam tournament of the year, the 2025 US Open, has officially started.
This edition of the US Open has stretched across 15 days, kicking off with early matches this weekend. In the men’s draw, Jannik Sinner is the top seed, defending his title. He faces stiff competition from the second seed, Carlos Alcaraz, who could only meet Sinner in the finals if both players advance. Additionally, American players Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz are among the contenders, alongside tennis veteran Novak Djokovic. Djokovic is aiming for his 25th Grand Slam title.
On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka, the number one seed and reigning US Open champion, leads the field. Iga Swiatek, along with American players Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula, round out the top four seeds. Venus Williams, who recently participated in the Mixed Doubles tournament, will be returning to singles as she faces No. 11 Karolina Muchova. Williams last competed in one of the four majors at the 2023 US Open.
